Enjoying life ....

I joined a Bible study this summer with some very wonderful and insightful women.  The  topic of this study is called "Enjoying where you are on the way to where you are going" by Joyce Meyer.  One point that was raised is that we sometimes find ourselves saying, "I will be happy when..... I lose weight/ I find a new job/ I finish my education...etc. etc." I'm sure we have all been there one time or another. For me it has lately been-- I will be happy when I lose weight!  I am often dwelling on how I look and comparing myself to other people or to when I was thinner. It gets depressing after a while!!  I feel the Lord has led me to this study to help me learn to focus on the here and now, and to enjoy my life's journey instead of dwelling on all the what ifs!!!
Joyce Meyer writes: "I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing as tragic as being alive and not enjoying life. I wasted much of my own life because I did not know how to enjoy where I was while I was on the way to where I was going."
This has inspired me  to stop dwelling on the fact that yes-I am overweight, but that is not my destination. Rather, I am going to strive to start accepting my self for who I am as I continue to change through out my weight loss journey!  I need to learn to love myself in the here and now, as well as when I arrive at my final goal-- destination healthy!!!
